Mugshot Stationary Coffee Crawl
Environmental Branding
This project was to create a fictitious event and design the environmental and collateral designs to bring it to life. Mugshot’s purpose is to let coffee lovers taste all the great local coffee shops based in the Twin Cities. At this event, attendees would be able to try unlimited “shots” of any beverage offered by the vendors! They would get to pick their favorite and get a full-sized drink in a mug to sip on or just take home. They could vote on their favorite vendor, lounge, eat, play coffee bean bag toss, take a “mugshot,” enjoy live music, and more. Inspired by bold flavors and hand-held mugshot signs, the design consists of strong typography with a coffee ground texture applied to it. For the icon, a profile mugshot is created by the negative space of the coffee bean. I kept a simple color palette to allow visual space for vendors to bring their own branding to life at their stations. If you like coffee and a good time, we should make this happen.
The Spot
The location I picked was the small side street between Cafe Astoria and Hope Breakfast Bar in St. Paul: S Leech St and Grand Ave. The brick and architecture match the vibe I was aiming for. With a little cleanup, string lights, a small stage setup, and vendor stations, I would totally love to re-design this area for the rest of the event... unless you think the construction works?
